If you’ don’t know what to cook on the Halloween theme, here’s a dedicated recipe book inspired from my own recipes and the ones that entered my Halloween Competition in 2013.

The book contains fifty recipes, 80% sweet ones and 20% savoury ones but only in French. I am still looking for a translator and reviewer for a future English version…

The French edition can be downloaded or flipped using the links above, be aware that it’s a bit bulky though.

Main / Hand

Il y a quelques jours de cela, je recevais un diaporama sur le sujet de la part de mon amie Martine. Il s’intule « Les mains de Maman » et contient plein de réflexions intéressantes sur le sujet. Vous pouvez le trouver ici. J’aurai pu m’en servir pour illustrer le thème « Main » du Projet Photo des Lumières, d’autant plus que ma mère fêtait son anniversaire chez nous ce samedi. 🙂

J’ai préféré l’interprétation plus légère pour laquelle ma fille aînée m’a prêté ses mains. Il s’agit de ce geste familier qui tend à les assembler pour former une coupelle pour boire par exemple…

There are a few days ago, I received a slideshow on the subject from my friend Martine. It is named « My Mom’s Hands » and contains many interesting thoughts on the subject. You can find it, in French, here. I could to have use it to illustrate the theme « Hand » of the Photo Project des Lumières, especially as it we my mother’s birthday this Saturday. 🙂

I preferred the lighter interpretation for which my eldest daughter lent me her hands. This is the familiar gesture that tends to assemble them into a cup to drink, for example…

Halloween , un livre de recettes gratuit / Free Halloween Recipe Book (in French)

Voilà. Enfin! La fameuse nuit d’Halloween aura lieu dans une dizaine de jour…

Vous vous souvenez peut-être qu’à la même époque, il y a deux maintenant, j’avais organisé un concours sur le thème d’Halloween, pour lequel je vous demandais de réaliser vos plus horribles recettes (visuellement parlant 😉 ). A l’époque, je vous avais promis un livret récapitulatif des recettes. Le voici enfin. Il contient une cinquantaine de recettes, des sucrées à 80% et des salées à 20%. Il s’agit en grande majorité de vos recettes agrémentées de quelques réalisations personnelles.

Mauvaise rédactrice, je n’ai fait que de la mise en page grossière sans revoir vos textes. N’hésitez donc pas à me signaler les éventuelles coquilles que vous pourrez y trouver. J’essayerai de faire des mises à jour régulières. Je suis également à la recherche d’un traducteur relecteur pour une éventuelle version anglophone…

That’s it. Finally! The famous Halloween night will take place in about ten days…

You may remember that at the same time, two years ago now , I organized a competition on the theme of Halloween , where I asked you to make your most horrible recipe (visually speaking 😉 ) . At the time, I promised you a summary booklet of recipes. Finally here it is. It contains fifty recipes, 80% sweet ones and 20% savoury ones. It is the vast majority of your recipes with some personal ones.

Bad writer, I ‘ve only done the rough layout without correcting your texts. Do not hesitate to let me know any errors you will find. I will try to make regular updates. I am also looking for a translator and reviewer for a supposed English version…

Concours Halloween : les recettes gagnantes / Halloween Contest : the Winning Recipes

Dans le cadre du concours Halloween, je vous rappelle que deux recettes ont été désignées : une sucrée et une salée! Il s’agit des meringues fantômes de Sophie et de la main de sorcière de Stéfanie. Vous les trouverez enfin en intégralité ci-dessous, dans l’ordre optimal de dégustation pour un dîner d’Halloween par exemple…

Main de Sorcière / Witch Hand (c) Stéphanie :

Ingrédients :

– 1 à 2 rouleaux de pâte brisée
– 5 saucisses de strasbourg pour 1 main
– 1 jaune d’oeuf
– de la salade pour servir

Préparation :

Bien étaler la pâte brisée, et y dessiner 2 mains.

Déposer sur l’une d’elles des saucisses en guise de doigts et de paume.

Badigeonner de jaune d’oeuf autour des saucisses pour souder les pâtes entre elles.

Déposer la seconde main sur la première et former les doigts. A l’aide d’un couteau, dessiner les articulations.

Badigeonner toute la main de jaune d’oeuf et mettre au four à 180°C pour 20 – 25 min..

Déposer de la salade dans un plat et y
mettre la main.

Meringues-fantômes d’Halloween / Halloween Ghost Meringues (c) Sophie – http://du-plaisir-dans-ma-cuisine.over-blog.com/:

Ingrédients :

On prend le principe du tant pour tant :
– 120g de blancs d’œufs
– 120g de sucre semoule
– 120g de sucre glace
(En fonction de votre quantité de blanc d’œufs, vous mettez autant en sucre)

Préparation :

Recette effectuée dans le Cook’in. (peut se faire au fouet électrique)
Préchauffez le four à 100°C (th3) et placez la toile Silpat sur la plaque alu perforée.

Insérer le fouet dans le bol.
Dans le bol, mettez les blancs et la moitié du sucre semoule.
Programmez 40°C / 5 min / montez progressivement à 4-5.
Ensuite, rajoutez le reste de sucre semoule et programmez 2 à 3 min sur 4-5.
Les blancs doivent être bien fermes.
Enfin, rajoutez le sucre glace en pluie pendant que le fouet tourne à vit 3.
Vous pouvez à ce moment là ajouter des colorants si besoin.

Une fois la meringue prête, mettez là dans une poche à douille.

Pour faire des petits fantômes, faites d’abord une première boule, puis par-dessus une deuxième plus petite et enfin une troisième encore plus petite. Ajoutez 2 pépites de chocolats pour faire les yeux
Pour les fantômes plats, commencez par la tête puis sans lever la douille, faites des zigzags et finissez en pointe. Et mettez 2 pépites de chocolat aussi pour les yeux.

Enfournez à 100°C (th3) pendant au moins 2 heures. Laissez complètement refroidir dans le four.

English below

As winners of the Halloween Contest, I remind you that two recipes were identified : a sweet and savoury one! These are the Ghosts Meringues from Sophie and the Witch Hand from Stefanie. You can find them at last in their full version below, in the optimal order of degustation for a Halloween dinner, for example …

Witch Hand (c) Stephanie :

Ingredients :

– 1 to 2 rolls of pastry
– 5 frankfurters for one hand
– 1 egg yolk
– salad to serve with

Preparation :

Roll out dough well, and draw two hands.

Place on one of them sausages as fingers and palm.

Brush with the egg yolk to seal the dough around the sausage together.

Place the second hand on the first one. Using a knife, draw the joints.

Brush the whole hand with egg yolk and bake at 180 ° C for 20 to 25 min ..

Place salad in a dish and lay the hand on it.

Ghost-Meringues (c) Sophie :

Ingredients :

Taking the principle of both as:
– 120g of egg whites
– 120g caster sugar
– 120g icing sugar
(Depending on your amount of egg whites, you put as much sugar)

Preparation :

This recipe is made in the Cook’in. (It can also be done with an electric whisker)
Preheat the oven to 100 ° C (th3) and place the Silpat on a perforated aluminum plate.

Insert the whip into the bowl.
In the bowl, put the egg whites and the half of the caster sugar.
Set 40 ° C / 5 min / climb gradually to 4-5.
Then add the remaining caster sugar and schedule 2 to 3 minutes on 4-5.
The whites should be stiff.
Finally, add slowly the icing sugar while whipping on speed 3.
You can at this point add coloring if desired.

Once the meringue is ready, put it in a pastry bag.

To make little ghosts, first make a first ball, then over a smaller second and a third even smaller. Add two chocolate chips for the eyes.
For the flat ghosts, first without lifting the head and the socket, make zigzags and end in a point. And put two chocolate chips for the eyes too.

Bake at 100 ° C (th3) for at least for 2 hours. Let completely cool down in the oven. 

Lignes / Lines

Si je n’avais pas déjà photographié des lignes électriques, plus exactement un pylône, pour le thème « Silhouette », j’aurai très certainement choisi ce sujet pour le thème « Lignes ». En période de rentrée ma première idée fut les lignes d’un cahier que j’ai laissé tomber car il me rappelait trop le thème « Correspondance »! J’ai donc chassé un motif de lignes intéressant durant quelques jours jusqu’à me dire que j’avais ce qu’il fallait sous la main, au propre comme au figuré! Voici donc une photo de la paume de ma main gauche avec ses plis, ses lignes, qui retranscrivent notre destin d’après certaines croyances…

La Chiromancie est l’art de lire l’avenir dans les lignes de la main. Elle remonte encore plus loin que l’antiquité. Ainsi, un dicton ancien raconte : « Dieu inscrivit des signes et des sceaux dans les mains de tous les fils des hommes pour que ceux-ci puissent connaître leurs tâches » (Livre de Job) . En examinant l’embryon dans le sein maternel, on a remarqué qu’au moment de la formation des mains, les lignes définitives se forment aussi dans la paume. Si la peau de la main est brûlée, les lignes se redessinent très vite avec les mêmes formes qu’auparavant…

Je ne sais pas ce que vous en pensez, mais pour ma part, je n’y crois pas. Bien que je ne sois pas totalement hérmétique aux phénomènes inexpliqués, ma formation scientifique et mon analyse personnelle me rendent très incrédule par rapport à bon nombre de croyances comme celle-ci… Et vous?

Prochaine rendez-vous pour le thème « Objets Incontournables » qui doit rassembler les objets que j’emporterai si ma maison brûlait. Soit la photo sera vide car les objets se remplacent en grande partie, soit elle risque de se résumer à mon ordinateur et un disque dur qui rassemblent sous forme compactée mes indispensables musiques et écrits…

Here is a photo of the palm of my left hand with its folds, lines that transcribe our destiny according to some beliefs …

Palmistry is the art of reading the future in the lines of the hand. It goes back even further than antiquity. So says an old adage: « God wrote the signs and seals in the hands of every son of men so that they can know their duties » (Book of Job). By examining the embryo in the womb, it was noted that at the time of the formation of the hands, the final lines also form in the palm. If the skin of the hand is burned, the lines are being redrawn very quickly with the same shape as before …

I do not know what you think, but I personally do not believe it. Although I am not totally impervious to unexplained phenomena, my scientific training and my personal feeling make me very skeptical to many beliefs like this … And you?

Next is the theme of « Must-have item » that needs to gather all items that I would take with me if my house were burning. Either the photo will be empty because objects can be replaced in large part, or it may come down to my computer and hard drive that store the essential of my musics and writings under a compacted form …
